About Mitch

Hi, I’m Mitch Gabel, and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (MFT-intern). I bring a warm, relational approach to my work and am passionate about helping individuals and couples navigate life’s challenges and build stronger connections.

Growing up in a Jewish home on Long Island, I am an avid New York food and sports fan. As a young boy, my dad sat me down to have the all-important coming-of-age conversation that all New York boys have – which sports teams we are expected to root for (go Islanders, Mets, and Giants!). I am also a firm believer in the power of a good pastrami on rye and real deal kosher, sour, garlic, dill pickle. But when life’s problems go beyond what a deli can fix, I am here to help.

My faith and my love of music are important parts of who I am, and I am grateful for the journey that they have both taken me on. My musical abilities provided me opportunities to play in churches, which ultimately drew me closer to God, and in my 20s, I converted to Christianity. My wife and I have been married since 2004 and have three wonderful children. Family is a cornerstone of my life, and I understand the joys and complexities that come with it.

How I Help

I know how intimidating it is to open up to a stranger about what is going on in your life. That is why my first priority is building a strong foundation of trust and ensuring that you feel safe. Consider me your co-pilot on this journey of self-discovery – you’re in the driver’s seat, and I’m here to support you with a good dose of humor and maybe a bit of sarcasm along the way.

But the reality is that therapy is about more than just “feelings.” It’s about understanding who you are at your core. As I often say, “You can’t improve your relationships until you know yourself well.” And let’s face it, life is all about relationships, right?

So, how do we get to know you better? Curiosity! We better ourselves when we operate out of a spirit of curiosity over a spirit of condemnation. We will explore your attachment style, where you find safety and security, and how your past experiences shape your present. I am also a big fan of the Enneagram and believe it can be a fantastic tool for unlocking self-awareness.

Whether you are navigating relationship challenges, dealing with past traumas, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, we will tailor our approach to meet your needs. Think of therapy as a collaborative adventure. I will provide the map, but you decide where we will explore.

I specialize in therapy for individuals ages 10 and up and with couples, specifically those desiring faith-based counseling or assistance with trauma and men’s issues – including pornography and sex addiction.
