About Brittany

Hi, I’m Brittany Burba, Clinical Professional Counselor Intern (CPC-Intern). Surprisingly – I’ve known that I wanted to be a therapist since I was twelve years old! My own experience in therapy changed the course of my life – it showed me what it feels like to be truly seen, and I knew right then I wanted to help other people feel that too! That’s still what gets me out of bed for this work every single day.

Before I was in the therapy room, I was on the other end of a 911 line as an emergency dispatcher, and before that, I was the only girl on my high school ice hockey team – so if you need someone who can stay calm under pressure, hold their ground, and still crack a joke at the right moment… I’m your person! Both of those experiences taught me a lot about discipline, teamwork, and showing up for people even on their hardest days, and I bring all of that into how I show up for you now.

I feel most alive in session the moment you start to see yourself differently – when the story you’ve believed about yourself for years starts to loosen, and something truer takes its place. Watching you realize you’ve had the strength in you all along, you just needed a little room to find it, never stops being the best part of my job!

Outside of session, you’ll usually find me with an electric guitar in hand, at the rink lacing up my skates, or ordering a chai latte and pretending I’m going to order something different next time! I grew up around first responders, and that world shaped me into someone who’s loyal, steady, and doesn’t scare easily – which, if I’m being honest, comes in handy in this line of work too! My friends and family would sum me up in three words: funny, real, and loyal to the end.

A line I try to live by, and one I’d offer to you if you need it:

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

How I Help

If you’re a pre-teen, teen, or adult who’s feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like anxiety, depression, or OCD have started running the show – I’d love to sit down with you and figure out what’s actually going on underneath it. I also work closely with people carrying trauma, and I hold a special place in my heart for first responders, since I grew up around that world and know firsthand how heavy the job can be, even when no one else sees it.

Here’s what you can expect from me: I’ll meet you exactly where you are. Some days that means going slow and just being present with whatever’s hard. Other days, if you’re the kind of person who wants a clear plan and someone to help you actually follow through on it, I can be structured and direct too – whatever gets you where you’re trying to go. A lot of our work together will focus on noticing the thought patterns and habits that keep you stuck, and building practical tools you can actually use in your day-to-day life, not just in our sessions.

I also don’t believe therapy has to feel heavy all the time. If there’s room for a laugh in the middle of hard work, I’ll take it – I think it makes the process feel a little more human, and a lot less like something you’re just pushing through.

At the end of the day, I want you to walk out of our sessions feeling like you were actually heard, and like you’ve got a little more confidence than you walked in with – because you deserve that, and honestly, you’re more capable of getting there than you probably think.
