About Janeen

Hi, I’m Janeen Smith, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. No matter where I’ve been in life or what I’ve been doing, I’ve always been someone who gravitates toward people. Every job, every room, every conversation: connecting with others has always been the best part! That pull toward genuine human connection is what eventually led me to therapy, and it’s still what gets me going every day!

I feel most alive in session when I watch someone start to see themselves differently — when the weight of old, unkind beliefs begins to lift and something softer takes its place. When a client starts to believe they’re actually capable of navigating their own life, that’s a moment that stays with me. It’s what this work is all about.

Outside the therapy room, I’m someone who loves peaceful everyday moments just as much as the big adventures. You’ll find me at a live concert (any genre — café stage, outdoor amphitheater, or full arena, I’m there!), road-tripping somewhere new, or in my kitchen testing a recipe I may or may not be ready for. I also have a serious soft spot for design and home remodeling shows. The people who know me best would describe me as thoughtful, calming, and fun — which feels like a fair summary.

A belief that shapes everything I do: everyone already has the strength and resilience to move through hard things. Sometimes you just need someone to help you find it.

How I Help

I work with teens and adults navigating some of life’s harder seasons through individual therapy, treating mental afflictions like depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, low self-esteem, addiction, and major life transitions. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’ve lost the thread of who you are, that’s exactly where I want to meet you.

My style is relational, gentle, and person-centered. I’m not going to hand you a one-size-fits-all plan and wish you luck. Instead, we’ll build something together, like real goals, a clear picture of what the process looks like, and a pace that actually works for you. I also make a point to learn about your interests and hobbies, because the best interventions are the ones that feel like you.

I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches depending on what each person needs, including CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, Narrative therapy, and faith-based when that’s meaningful to someone’s life.

What I want most is for every client to leave a session feeling safe, heard, and genuinely understood. I know therapy isn’t always easy or comfortable, but when you feel truly seen, continuing becomes something you want to do, not something you push yourself through. That’s the environment I’m always working to create, and the thing I take most seriously.
