About Keiana

Hi — I’m Keiana Chino, Marriage and Family Intern (MFT-Intern). I’m an Afro-Indigenous woman who was raised in a reservation community, and my path to becoming a therapist comes directly from my own lived experience of navigating everyday stressors while also carrying the weight of stigma around mental health. That’s a big part of my “why”: I’m here to help reduce that stigma by showing up as a therapist who is present, nonjudgmental, and deeply respectful of each person’s story.

One idea that guides both my life and my work is harmony. To me, harmony means learning how to be in a better relationship with yourself, your thoughts, emotions, identity, and lived experiences, so you can move through life with more self-acceptance, self-empowerment, and choice. I believe internal work starts with you, and that self-acceptance, self-liberation, and self-empowerment are powerful ways to show up in the world more fully!

Outside of therapy, I recharge with yoga, reading, music, and time in nature, the kind of simple routines that help me feel grounded and clear. Harmony is that balance of being aware and connected to yourself and your surroundings, while also letting yourself be spontaneous, creative, and real, which is exactly what I hear in the line, “Come to your senses and lose your mind.” It’s become a kind of mantra for me: come back to what’s true and grounded, and still give yourself permission to be fully you.

How I Help

I work with teens (11+), adults, couples, and families. I’m especially drawn to supporting clients from underserved communities — including people of color and the LGBTQIA2S+ community — and I approach therapy with cultural humility, because identity and context shape how stress, trauma, and relationships are experienced.

Clients often come to me for support with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, relationship challenges, and trauma, including co-occurring concerns. My style is client-centered, compassionate, and gentle but direct. I’ll meet you where you are, and I’ll also offer thoughtful questions and new perspectives — the kind that helps you pause, reflect, and understand yourself differently.

I believe you are the expert in your life. My role is to help you access your inner resources, build practical skills you can lean on when things get hard, and create space for growth that isn’t linear. As a Trauma-Informed Certified clinician, I tend to lead with “What happened to you?” rather than “What’s wrong with you?” — and I prioritize emotional and physical safety in the therapy space so you feel supported with me, with the process, and with yourself.

In our work, I often draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), narrative approaches, and experiential methods. Whether we’re working on healing from trauma, strengthening self-worth, or improving communication in a relationship, my hope is that you leave sessions feeling more centered, grounded, and confident in your next steps — even if it’s just one percent better than last week.
