About Alicia
My name is Alicia Joseph Rivers and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I am a San Francisco native. I relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada with my family in 2015. I worked as a therapist in many different therapy roles in California for over two decades before moving to Las Vegas. I have 30 years experience as a therapist. My interest in therapy dates back to my youth. As a kid I would help my grandmother with her clients at her licensed residential care facility. I witnessed her being compassionate and caring for those that needed so much care. She treated everyone like family. It is important to me that my clients feel safe, well cared for, understood, encouraged and supported.
How I Help
I deeply believe that what we think affects how we act, feel, and behave. This perspective informs my therapy style as a therapist! I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a specialized type of therapy that it focuses on your thought patterns and how they can affect your overall being. I believe that renewing your mind with truth is the path to healing and genuine life change. Your personal growth and development are key factors for self- fulfillment. I work alongside you to grow that skillset. I work to ensure you feel confident to be your authentic self and working alongside you in therapy sessions to seek true healing. I enjoy therapy with teens, adults, couples and families. I also conduct faith-based therapy. As a Christian, I enjoy utilizing and incorporating a Biblical perspective in therapy. I provide Christian Counseling upon request. However, regardless of your belief system, it is most important that I create an open and comfortable space for all of my clients. Helping you examine your belief systems and creating healthy coping skills as you work to renew your mind is truly my life’s mission!
