About Jerlyn
Hello! My name is Jerlyn Malasig, and I am a Clinical Professional Counselor – Intern. Growing up as a first-generation American born in Hawaii to immigrant parents with big families has greatly influenced both my personal and professional journey. Following high school, I headed to Seattle to expand my worldview and immerse myself in mainland culture while pursuing a business administration degree. Wanting to be closer to family, I eventually made the move to Las Vegas, known as the “ninth island,” to begin my career in the hospitality industry.
Working in the hospitality industry allowed me to interact with individuals from around the world and hear their life stories, which became the highlight of my work. This broadened my understanding of our shared human experiences and steered me toward a career in mental health. I now find fulfillment in supporting others and experience immense joy in making a positive difference in people’s lives. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of someone’s journey to well-being.
Outside of work, I enjoy sharing meals and laughter with loved ones, experiencing diverse cultures and cuisines through travel and indulging in binge-worthy series that have a common theme of family and love. I am also passionate about learning and enjoy keeping up with our constantly evolving and advancing world through various training opportunities and ongoing research.
How I Help
I hope to provide a warm, therapeutic, and empowering space for you to share your story so that healing and growth can begin. We will explore your past experiences to gain insight into the underlying causes of current challenges and inform areas of restoration and opportunity.
Through our collaborative work, we will build upon your strengths and establish helpful habits to facilitate movement toward your goals and improve your overall well-being. To support you, we will integrate various treatment approaches that are tailored to meet your individual needs to tend to and nurture your mind, body, and spirit.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapeutic method that facilitates the brain’s natural healing process, resulting in faster relief for clients. I also provide faith-based counseling upon request, which can be an invaluable source of comfort, strength, meaning, and motivation, especially during difficult times
Based on your preference and comfort level, I am happy to meet with you in person or through teletherapy. I look forward to joining you on your healing, growth, and development journey.
