What is Therapy Like?
Therapy is really not much different than talking to a close friend about life. However, there are a few key distinctions. Your "friend" is highly qualified to listen, empathize, and speak to whatever your unique situation is. They are trained to provide an objective perspective on ways to resolve your concerns. You also can be confident that your conversation is completely confidential.
How Often?
Sessions at reTHINK Therapy last just under an hour. A weekly or bi-weekly frequency is typical, but your therapist can provide a recommendation during your first appointment. Sessions usually continue until your goals are met or you’ve gained relief from your distress. You can elect to have your meetings face-to-face or virtually depending upon your own needs or the recommended government mandates during the current health crisis.
Do I really Need Therapy?
Until more recently, most populations attached a negative stigma to therapy. In the not too distance past, “Only really crazy people get counseling.” was the common thought. Thankfully, this misguided view has lost traction in more recent time. The truth is a lot of people seeing a therapist don’t have severe mental instability. They are normal people addressing everyday problems.
No Issues Too Big or Small
Our therapists are trained to address the most profound issues that people face or what may seem like the most trivial concern. No matter where you are on the spectrum of distress, your therapist can walk with you through your challenge. Therapy is a tool to help you deal productively with life’s issues no matter how big or small.
Can Therapy Help Me?
Here are some of the benefits people report after committing to therapy.
- Greater contentment
- Less stress
- Improved ability to handle emotions
- Improvement in relationships
- Finding purpose in life
- Moving from “survival mode” to living
- Peace about the past
- Less negative physical symptons (aches, pains)
- Better life balance
How long does treatment take?
The length of treatment differs from person to person. The two factors that are most influential in determining the length of treatment are the severity and nature of the issue being addressed and the individual’s motivation for change. Your therapist will guide you through an appropriate prescribed frequency based on the nature and severity of your challenge.
Is Therapy Available During Covid?
