Individual Therapy in Henderson &
Las Vegas, Nevada

“When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting and less scary.”

At reTHINK therapy, we know that life can be messy and unpredictable. We also know that sometimes, despite your best efforts, it can be  a challenge to handle your emotions. Or your life may be great in some areas but falling apart in others. Individual therapy is an opportunity to explore questions about yourself, challenging situations, relationships, past experiences, and unhealthy thought patterns.

During individual therapy, we help you identify the problems that you are facing and when they began.  Our therapists will help you to understand the negative beliefs that you tell yourself, whether conscious or unconscious. Individual therapy helps you challenge your negative beliefs about yourself. It also gives you the tools to find a more positive and sustainable belief about who you truly are.

All healthy relationships require trust. Your relationship with your therapist is no different. We want you to feel comfortable discussing any topic or situation with us during your individual therapy sessions. We know that deep and honest interactions are the best way for you to discover new and positive insights into your own life. However, we also know that therapy can be a difficult process. Our job is  to support and guide you on your journey.

Individual Therapy

What Is Individual Therapy?

Individual therapy at reTHINK Therapy is about more than having someone listen to your problems. It’s an opportunity to better understand yourself, explore what’s keeping you stuck, and make meaningful changes in how you think, feel, and navigate life.

Your therapist will work with you to identify patterns in your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships that may be contributing to your current challenges. Together, you’ll explore where those patterns originated, challenge beliefs that are no longer serving you, and develop healthier ways of responding to yourself and the world around you.

While therapy is a supportive and judgment-free space, it’s also a place for growth. Your therapist may challenge your perspectives, help you recognize things you haven’t noticed before, and encourage you to apply what you’re learning outside of sessions. Sometimes that process can be uncomfortable, but meaningful change often is.

At reTHINK, our goal isn’t simply to help you feel better after each session. We want to help you develop the self-awareness, confidence, and skills to create lasting change so that, ultimately, you no longer need us.

What to Expect in Your First Session

Your first therapy session at reTHINK Therapy is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other. Your therapist will ask questions about what brought you to therapy, your personal history, current challenges, and what you hope to accomplish. Together, you’ll begin identifying your goals and discussing what treatment might look like moving forward.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before your first appointment. It’s completely normal to feel nervous, unsure of where to start, or even uncertain about what you want to work on. Your therapist will help guide the conversation, and you can share at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Your first session is also an opportunity to ask questions, discuss expectations, and get a sense of whether your therapist is a good fit. While you may not walk away with all the answers, our goal is for you to leave feeling heard, understood, and more confident about your next steps.

Individual Therapy for Anxiety, Depression, Trauma & More

Individual therapy at reTHINK Therapy can help you navigate a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and more. Whether you’re struggling with a specific concern or simply feeling stuck, therapy provides an opportunity to better understand yourself and make meaningful changes in your life.

Our therapists recognize that mental health challenges rarely exist in isolation. Anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship patterns often overlap and influence one another. Rather than focusing solely on individual symptoms, we work with you to understand the underlying beliefs, experiences, and patterns that may be contributing to your struggles.

Through a combination of evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs, your therapist will help you develop greater self-awareness, challenge unhelpful patterns, and build practical skills for navigating life’s challenges. Our goal is to help you create lasting change that extends beyond the therapy room.

In-Person & Online in Henderson and Las Vegas

At reTHINK Therapy, we offer both in-person and online individual therapy to make getting support as convenient and accessible as possible. Whether you prefer meeting face-to-face at our Henderson office or connecting virtually from your home, you have the flexibility to choose what works best for your schedule.

And you don’t have to choose just one! You can attend therapy in person one week and online the next, depending on what life looks like. We understand that schedules change, and we want therapy to fit into your life, not the other way around.

One of the most important factors in achieving positive therapy outcomes is regular attendance and consistency. Attending therapy weekly or every other week helps you maintain momentum, build on the work you’re doing, and make meaningful progress toward your goals. By offering both in-person and online sessions, we make it easier to stay consistent with therapy, even when life gets busy.

FAQ

You don’t have to be in crisis or have a mental health diagnosis to benefit from individual therapy. Sometimes the signs are obvious, like struggling with anxiety, depression, or overwhelming emotions. Other times, they’re more subtle, like feeling stuck in the same patterns, having difficulty in relationships, or noticing that you’re not responding to life’s challenges the way you’d like to.

Individual therapy may be helpful if you’re experiencing:

  • Persistent emotional struggles: Feeling anxious, sad, overwhelmed, irritable, or disconnected more often than you’d like.

  • Unhealthy patterns: Finding yourself repeating the same behaviors, relationship dynamics, or negative thought patterns despite wanting things to change.

  • Relationship difficulties: Struggling with communication, boundaries, trust, or maintaining meaningful connections.

  • Past experiences that still affect you: Recognizing that childhood experiences, trauma, or difficult relationships continue to influence how you think, feel, or respond today.

  • Major life changes: Having difficulty navigating transitions, loss, stress, or uncertainty.

  • A desire for personal growth: Wanting to better understand yourself, improve your emotional well-being, or develop healthier ways of navigating life.

At reTHINK Therapy, we believe you don’t have to wait until life feels unmanageable to seek support. If something is affecting your happiness, relationships, or quality of life, or you simply want to better understand yourself, individual therapy can be a valuable place to start.

The length of individual therapy varies depending on your needs, the challenges you’re facing, and what you hope to accomplish. Some people begin noticing meaningful improvements within 6–12 sessions, while others benefit from longer-term therapy to address deeper patterns, past experiences, or more complex concerns.

At reTHINK Therapy, we believe therapy should be purposeful and focused on helping you make lasting changes, not keeping you in treatment indefinitely. You and your therapist will work together to establish clear goals, regularly evaluate your progress, and adjust your treatment as your needs change.

Consistency also plays an important role in how quickly you make progress. Attending therapy weekly or every other week helps maintain momentum and build on the work you’re doing between sessions. Ultimately, our goal is to help you develop the insight, skills, and confidence to navigate life’s challenges independently, so that eventually, you no longer need therapy.

Absolutely! While individual therapy primarily focuses on you, there may be times when inviting a loved one or support person into a session can be helpful. Whether it’s a spouse, partner, family member, or close friend, involving someone important to you can create opportunities to improve communication, work through relationship challenges, or help them better understand what you’re experiencing and how to support you.

At reTHINK Therapy, your therapist will work with you to determine when including someone else might be beneficial to your treatment goals. These sessions are intentional and focused on supporting your individual progress, rather than shifting into couples or family therapy.

To protect your privacy and ensure everyone understands their role, we’ll ask you to sign a Release of Information before including someone in your session. If your loved one will be participating in your care on an ongoing basis rather than attending for one-time support, we’ll also ask them to sign an Informed Consent outlining their role and expectations.

If you’re interested in bringing someone to a session, simply discuss it with your therapist ahead of time so you can decide together what makes the most sense for your treatment.

Life moves quickly, and most of us don’t spend much time slowing down to understand ourselves. Between work, relationships, responsibilities, and everything else competing for our attention, it’s easy to fall into patterns without ever stopping to question them.

Individual therapy gives you the space to do exactly that. It’s an opportunity to better understand your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and the beliefs you’ve developed about yourself along the way. For many people, simply having a place to openly express themselves and feel understood brings relief within the first few sessions. But therapy doesn’t stop there.

Life will always have challenges. Relationships will be complicated, unexpected things will happen, and there will be seasons that are harder than others. The goal of therapy isn’t to eliminate those difficulties. It’s to change how you understand yourself and respond to them.

Through individual therapy, you’ll work to identify and challenge negative beliefs, develop healthier and more sustainable ways of thinking, and build the tools to navigate life with greater confidence and self-awareness. Over time, those old patterns no longer have to be your default.

At reTHINK Therapy, our goal is to help you create lasting change, so you’re not just better equipped to handle life’s challenges, but more confident in who you are and how you want to live.
