Urgent Needs

When You Need Help Now

Life doesn’t stop in between your sessions, and we understand that you may need support outside of our team’s business hours.

At reTHINK therapy, we believe that there are two different situations that may need extra resources; urgent situations and crisis response situations.  An urgent situation is one that can’t wait until your next session but is not life threatening. While a crisis response situation is one in which a person is in immediate or suspected danger.

Some examples of crisis response situations:

  • Suicidal thoughts and ideation
  • Homicidal thoughts and ideation
  • Known or suspected child or elder abuse
  • Known or suspected child or elder neglect

If you, or someone that you know, is in a crisis response situation – we encourage you to immediately head to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

If you are facing an urgent situation and need support outside of our team’s hours, we encourage you to contact a hotline or online chat line.  Both of these options are available 24/7 and can get you the support that you need immediately.

“The secret to crisis management is not good versus bad, it’s preventing the bad from getting worse.”

When a person is in an urgent or emergency situation, there is a common tendency to “ride it out.”  To believe that you can handle these feelings or situations on your own and that they will simply go away. When you are emotionally and mentally worn out, you need an unbiased opinion to better assess your situation.  Having an outside perspective can get you clarity on your needs and vital information on resources available to you. If you are in a situation where you need help immediately, we highly encourage you to utilize these resources.
