Family Therapy
A dysfunctional family is any family with more than one person in it.

Family Issues
Family differences are a normal part of being… well a family. However, if you feel like you are having the same fight over and over or just can’t seem to get onto the same page. Family therapy may be the solution to help you.
Many families face problems and lack the proper skills to address them. This causes the problems to grow. Small issues become bigger ones. Poor coping and communication skills from some or all members of the family may feed into more conflict with one another… and the cycle continues. At reTHINK therapy, we want to help you break this cycle of unrest.
Therapy for families is different than other long format therapy in that it is:
- Solution focused
- Designed with a specific goal in mind
- Short term, with the average of 12 sessions
It is designed to identify struggles within the entire family unit. However, we recognize that families are made up of individual members with unique personalities and perspectives. Our therapists teach healthy communication and coping skills for you to utilize with one another. This is why at reTHINK therapy, we use sessions to work with both the family as a whole and each individual member to achieve your goals.

Families Are Made of Individuals
Family therapy is generally geared toward the entire family unit. However through the course of treatment, individual issues commonly emerge. As a result, your therapist may recommend that one or all members participate in individual therapy to complement your work as a family. These specialized appointments supplement your family sessions to address individual issues and understand how they affect your family dynamic. See our individual therapy page for more information on what individual therapy looks like at reTHINK Therapy.
As your family utilizes the skills that you learn in your therapy sessions, you can expect to see your overall communication improve. You will have the skills to problem solve more efficiently and in a way that makes all members of the family feel heard. While you may not always agree, you will have new and improved ways of working together and the ability to see and be accepting of one another’s differences.
At reTHINK Therapy, we want to help your family stop surviving and start living.
